Publication Ethics

The Indonesian Journal of Economic Analysis of Law is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. The journal adheres to the Core Practices and Ethical Guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and expects all parties involved in the publication process—including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—to uphold the principles of honesty, transparency, integrity, fairness, confidentiality, and accountability.

Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

Authors submitting manuscripts to The Indonesian Journal of Economic Analysis of Law are expected to:

  • Submit only original work that has not been published or simultaneously submitted elsewhere.

  • Ensure that all data, analyses, and findings are accurate and honestly reported without fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate data manipulation.

  • Properly acknowledge and cite the work of others.

  • Avoid all forms of plagiarism, including self-plagiarism and redundant publication.

  • Disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that may influence the research or its interpretation.

  • Ensure that all listed authors have made substantial scholarly contributions and have approved the final version of the manuscript.

  • Promptly notify the Editor if a significant error is discovered after submission or publication and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article when necessary.

  • Comply with applicable research ethics requirements, including obtaining ethical approval and informed consent where required.

Ethical Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are responsible for ensuring a fair, transparent, and impartial editorial process. Editors shall:

  • Evaluate manuscripts solely on their academic merit, originality, relevance, and scientific quality, without discrimination based on nationality, gender, race, religion, institutional affiliation, or political beliefs.

  • Maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and all communications during the editorial process.

  • Ensure that manuscripts undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process.

  • Make editorial decisions independently and free from commercial or personal influence.

  • Manage conflicts of interest appropriately and recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where such conflicts exist.

  • Take appropriate action when ethical concerns arise, including issuing corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions when warranted.

  • Follow COPE guidance in addressing allegations of misconduct.

Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers

Peer reviewers play a vital role in maintaining the quality of published research. Reviewers are expected to:

  • Provide objective, constructive, and evidence-based evaluations.

  • Treat all manuscripts as confidential documents.

  • Review manuscripts only within their areas of expertise and within the agreed timeframe.

  • Identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors.

  • Inform the Editor of any suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, research misconduct, or ethical concerns.

  • Decline to review manuscripts where conflicts of interest may compromise impartiality.

Publisher's Responsibilities

The publisher supports the Editorial Board in maintaining editorial independence and implementing ethical publishing practices. The publisher is committed to:

  • Promoting academic integrity and research excellence.

  • Ensuring that editorial decisions are made independently of commercial interests.

  • Supporting the correction or retraction of published articles when necessary.

  • Preserving the integrity of the scholarly record.

  • Upholding internationally recognized ethical publishing standards.

Research Misconduct

IJFLS does not tolerate any form of research or publication misconduct, including but not limited to:

  • Plagiarism

  • Data fabrication or falsification

  • Duplicate or redundant publication

  • Citation manipulation

  • Authorship manipulation or gift authorship

  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest

  • Peer review manipulation

Any allegation of misconduct will be investigated in accordance with the COPE Core Practices and COPE flowcharts. Appropriate actions may include manuscript rejection, publication of corrections, retractions, notification of authors' institutions, or other corrective measures as deemed necessary.

Corrections and Retractions

When significant errors or ethical violations are identified after publication, the journal will issue corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions as appropriate, following COPE recommendations. All such actions will be conducted transparently to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.

The Indonesian Journal of Economic Analysis of Law is committed to continuously improving its editorial and publishing practices in accordance with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices. All participants in the publication process are expected to uphold these principles to ensure that published research remains accurate, trustworthy, ethical, and contributes meaningfully to the advancement of legal scholarship.
